To build and code a robot capable of following lines autonomously
The project kit provided included all hardware, chassis, motors, and an Arduino. My task was to assemble, build, and code the robot using the Arduino and feedback from the IR sensors at the front. For my build, I opted for three sensors and placed them into an opaque 3D-printed sensor bracket and housing. I then used the supplied H-Bridge and PWM signal from the Arduino to navigate various courses. The most challenging course I completed is shown below, featuring overlapping lines and a break in the path.
I decided to use a through-hole PCB for the IR sensor inputs for increased reliability, and potentiometers for tuning based on ambient lighting. This robot was completed as a solo project in my junior design course.
